The Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force was established in 2002 as a multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement agency comprised of the Sheriff’s Offices of Pickens, Gilmer and Fannin Counties and the District Attorney’s Office for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit.  An Executive Control Board oversees financial and operational activities.  The board members include: Chairman, Sheriff Donald Craig, District Attorney S. Allison Sosbee, Sheriff Stacy Nicholson, Sheriff Dane Kirby, and Ellijay Police Chief Larry Callahan.

Operational Objectives:

  1. To actively pursue all levels of illegal drug activity
  2. To collect, analyze, and disseminate intelligence from various sources
  3. To coordinate investigative efforts with the Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments
  4. To support local education through cooperation with school systems and civic organizations

The task force conducts plain clothes operations and carries out long term drug investigations. These investigations are initiated from information provided by citizens. logo-drugtask
