2011 Jasper Jeep Mountain Jam is a Success
On October 15, 2011, Jeep Enthusiasts from as far away as South Florida joined the Pickens Sheriff’s Office for the first Jasper Jeep Mountain Jam. The event was to raise support and awareness for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes.
The nearly 200 participants gathered at Jasper Jeep in Jasper, Georgia and then loaded into 50 jeeps and traveled in a law enforcement escorted convoy to the Toccoa River.
Upon arriving on the river, participants enjoyed a cookout, live entertainment, and learned what the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes is doing to support kids throughout the state of Georgia.
Since 1960, the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes have been providing a safe and loving environment for many children that have been neglected, abused and abandoned. These five residential facilities throughout the state have provided thousands of disadvantaged children the opportunity to live normal positive lives in full-time residential facilities.
All proceeds raised went to support the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes.
Several participants have uploaded videos and pictures. Some of these links are below:

Sheriff Craig Receives Award from the Georgia Sheriff’s Association
On Wednesday, July 20th, Sheriff Donnie Craig was awarded the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes 2011 President’s Award at the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Summer Conference. This award recognizes a Sheriff who has shown outstanding support and dedication to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, Inc.
During the presentation, it was discussed that Sheriff Craig has done more for the Youth Homes in just over 2 years as Sheriff than many Sheriffs have accomplished in several terms.
Over the past 2 years, Sheriff Craig has worked very hard to educate the public about the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes through raising support, visiting each home, and by working to create a promotional video that educates the public about the mission and accomplishments of the Youth Homes.
