Sheriff Donnie Craig has proudly called Pickens County home for over 40 years. He is married to his devoted wife, and together they have a son and daughter, as well as two granddaughters.
Sheriff Craig began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Pickens Sheriff’s Office, starting as a jailer. His dedication and commitment to service allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks, ultimately becoming Chief Deputy.
In 2008, he was elected Sheriff and officially took office on January 1st, 2009. Sheriff Craig is currently serving his fifth term, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the Pickens County community.
Chief Hall began his law enforcement career in 1994 with the Pickens Sheriff’s Office. During his time there, he gained extensive experience across various divisions, including Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Narcotics. In 1999, he transitioned to the Canton Police Department, where he steadily advanced to the rank of Lieutenant.
In 2012, Chief Hall returned to the Pickens Sheriff’s Office, ultimately rising to the position of Chief Deputy. His impressive credentials include certification as a Manager from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, an associate degree from Chattahoochee Technical College, and numerous professional certificates earned throughout his career.

Major Scurry has both an Associate’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She started as a Detention Officer in 2011 and quickly moved up. She graduated from the mandate academy in 2015. She was promoted to Captain over the Detention Center in 2018, then moved to be commander over the Court Services Unit in 2020. She was recently promoted to Headquarters/ Detention Major.
Her accomplishments include graduating Leadership Pickens and completing her supervision certification. She is also a post-certified instructor and an AIRR instructor. .
Major Yeargin began his career with the Pickens Sheriff’s Office in 2016 and is currently the Major over Uniform Patrol, Crime Suppression Unit, and Criminal Investigative Division. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and brings to this position over 2000 POST hours. Prior to joining the agency, he spent 31 years in law enforcement. He came to Pickens County in 1985 as a Conservation Ranger with the Department of Natural Resources where he was promoted to Sergeant and later to Wildlife Tech IV for Region One.
